Today we have run an experiment to discover whether coins and bottle caps sink or float.
First we had to think of what we thought was going to happen when we put them in the water basin. Then we ran the experiment and observed what actually happened.
We were surprised when we got a "great" stamp on our worksheet, no matter what we had thought was going to happen. This is because we are becoming critical thinkers and our thoughts are more than welcome!
... and Happy Valentine's day!!!

We finally went on the carnival parade today! We loved dancing in the street and wearing our costumes. This year they were inspired by British films and books, since we are celebrating the XXth British Project anniversary. P3, P4 & P5 children were wearing costumes inspired by Peter Pan film. 1st and 2nd grade children were wearing costumes inspired by the Beetles. 3rd and 4th grade children were wearing costumes inspired by Queen and 5th and 6th grade students were wearing costumes inspired by Harry Potter's books. We've had a great time!
We are learning about different means of transport. Today we sang the song DRIVING ON DOWN TO GRANDPA'S FARM, holding our steering wheels, because we were driving our cars! Driving on down to grandpa's farm x3 What sounds will we hear? We have also reviewed the different animals we learnt in term 1. By guessing the name of the animal's sound. Then we coloured a car while we were listening and or singing the song. We counted how many windows and wheels the car had. We also practised saying "I'm done" and "I'm finished". Meanwhile, Magdi was getting us ready for the carnival parade.

Today we have learnt about Italian painter, Arcimboldo. We are going to create a still life vegetables collage portrait. Blanca has brought a sunset she painted at home and she has explained to us what she had drawn.

Today we have finally practised our restaurant dialogues. We have learnt about healthy foods in science. The class was split into 6 groups. We worked in groups of 4-5 children to write our restaurant's menu. Then we had to write the dialogue, decide who was going to be the waiter or waitress, customer 1, customer 2 and the nutritionist. Next week we'll perform in front of our classmates. Today was rehearsal day. Here is one of the groups practice.

4th A students are getting ready for carnival. They made a drawing of the costumes they will wear on Thursday for the school carnival parade. Most of them will be on the Saturday parade in Mahon, so they made a drawing of the costumes they'll be wearing as well. They have finished painting the Queen guitar for Thursday.

We've had two very busy weeks getting everything ready for Carnival and we did it! We have finished decorating the book of spells, colouring our costumes and badges and painting our magic wands. We only need to stick the marble to the tip of our wands. Soqui will help us with that, and Cam with the costumes. We really are looking forward to the Carnival Parade.

We are getting ready for carnival. It's the British Project - MEC 20th anniversay, so we are going to wear British inspired costumes. In 4th grade we are going to be Queen band components. We are very busy making a guitar to take to the Carnival Parade.
Today we have learnt and put into practice a technique that might help us be better readers. It's called Connecting to Previous Knowledge, and it's helpful to have better reading comprehension skills and to remember what we have read. We really enjoyed this activity.
Today we have run different experiments in class. Last week we learnt the different properties of matter and we wanted to know which object was harder, more teantious, more elastic,... Therefore, we had to decide how we could check on the objects' properties. After that we had to formulate a hypothesis and then we had to test it. But we had to make sure it was a fair test. The mnemonic "Cows Moo softly" helps us remember how to plan a fair test: Change one thing, Measure something and keep everything else the Same. We had to think hard but we really enjoyed it, and it's great for us, because it helps us become critical thinkers.

Casto helped us cut the cardboard for the bood of spells war are making, Soqui has helped us make the magic wands we will take to the Carnival parade, and we are very busy making our costumes.
